It’s almost as if they held an ugly person convention, filmed it, and then released it on DVD.

The ugliest, most frightening and occasionally the cheesiest villains in horror movie history have been compiled on the new DVD from Universal Flix Mix, “Boogeymen.”

On the compilation, the scariest scenes of classic horror movies frighten viewers and awaken their nostalgia for the monsters they loved in the past. Each scene lasts a couple of minutes and represents the shining moment for the villain involved.

The collection showcases a wide variety of crazy boogeymen. From creepy villains such as Freddy Krueger and the Candyman, to kids that need to be drop-kicked such as Chucky and that obnoxious leprechaun, every single monster in the collection is an important member of horror movie history.

Many of the scenes will surely create mixed emotions for the viewer. While some of the scenes are undoubtedly frightening, they can also be hilariously cheesy.

As Leatherface chases a poor girl down the street with a chainsaw, viewers won’t know whether to scream at the suspense or laugh at the ridiculous wobble the insane man with the chainsaw has. And while Pinhead from “Hellraiser” might be scary, he’s still a man with needles coming out of his head.

Some of this stuff is simply hilarious.

Part of the beauty of horror flicks, however, is the fact that they are incredibly cheesy. The cheesiness factor is what sets the horror genre apart from everything else, and that corniness is definitely represented on the DVD.

The other part of the beauty of horror flicks, is the gratuitous gore.

As the evil leprechaun jumps on his victim with a pogo stick, gross amounts of blood are splattered everywhere.

The general rule of thumb for a successful horror film, the more blood the merrier, is very well represented on the DVD.

Perhaps the most important aspect of this DVD is the way it needs to be viewed. Watching it alone is definitely not the way to go.

“Boogeymen” is more of a conversation starter, a film to be watched, to get scared by, and laughed at with a group of friends.

Perhaps it can be playing in the background at a Halloween party, or a casual get-together.

Together the suspense, gore and comical corniness will become fairly enjoyable.

There’s no plot and no character development, just incredibly beautiful young women being chased by incredibly ugly individuals. It makes for a frighteningly good time.
