Making fun of Wyoming uncalled for What nonsense! Gilbert Quiñonez’s article (“Wyoming matchup raises the question: Why?”, Dec. 9) sounds just like the typical guys from Los Angeles who ask if the rest of the United States has Internet or paved roads. For your information, the majority of Americans view folks from Los Angeles as shallow and fake. So stop knocking people from Wyoming. It is in places like Wyoming where I have met the most down-to-earth, intellectual and respectable people. As a recent graduate from UCLA and someone who was born in the city of Cheyenne, Wyo., I can’t wait for this matchup.

I want to sincerely thank Quiñonez for his portrayal of Wyoming. It is the fantastic people such as yourself that keep Wyoming wonderful. Please, I encourage him for more commentary such as that stated in his article. Such articulations of what Wyoming is and will hopefully remain to be is an image that will hopefully keep people such as yourself away from and out of this great state. Thank you again!

Like many in our state, I read Quiñonez’s article yesterday on the Cowboy fan site. For some, Wyoming is the end of the earth, but for me (a Long Beach Wilson graduate) it is someplace very special. This state gave me the opportunity to teach and coach in a beautiful community, Sheridan. My son was raised here and went on to graduate from the Air Force Academy. Wyoming holds a very special place in my heart. To take a critical shot at a school half the size of Long Beach City College and a state with fewer people than Long Beach seems funny to me. How was that commute this morning?
