Here's Looking At USAC

USAC postpones funding allocations

Posted October 5, 2007

On Tuesday the Undergraduate Students Association Council finalized

its three remaining Academic Senate appointments, set aside roughly

$30,000 of funding for Bruin Bash, and prepared for funding

allocations to student groups next week.

Campus Events commissioner Colin Iberti, whose commission put

on Bruin Bash in conjunction with the Cultural Affairs Commission,

brought a proposal to the table to allocate $30,125.75 for expenses

from the event.

According to Iberti’s proposal, the total event cost was just

over $142,000, while the revenue was just under $112,000.

Iberti’s proposal requested that USAC use its surplus fund to cover

the $30,000 deficit. The proposal was passed.

USAC also originally planned to approve allocations of student group

operational funding, which gives various groups money for items such as office supplies that they need to

run their programs.

But with 161 applications from campus organizations this year for

this fund, the allocations are still being determined, and council

opted to postpone its decision until next week.
