The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Agenda

  • This week’s contingency allocations passed unanimously.

Appointments

  • Fourth-year neuroscience student Steven Quan was appointed to the Student Health Advisory Committee with a vote of 7-0-0.
  • Third-year political science and history student Erik Pena was appointed to the Communications Board with a vote of 7-0-0.
  • John Joanino, a second-year sociology student, was appointed to the Student Fee Advisory Committee with a vote of 6-0-1.
  • Mallory Valenzuela, a third-year Asian American studies and sociology student, was appointed to the Student Fee Advisory Committee with a vote of 6-0-1.
  • Layhearn Tep, a fifth-year political science student, was appointed to the Student Fee Advisory Committee with a vote of 7-0-0.
  • Angus Beverly, a second-year history student, was appointed to the Chancellor’s Enrollment Advisory Committee with a vote of 5-0-2.

Officer Reports

  • President Emily Resnick reminded council members of a meeting at LAX on July 11 at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the possible extension of FlyAway service to Westwood. She added that people are needed there to read testimonials.
  • Kristina Sidrak, internal vice president, announced that the organization system OrgSync’s interface will be updated this week. She also said that organizations at the Enormous Activities Fair during the fall will be automatically enrolled in an online portal to encourage communication between groups.
  • Joelle Gamble, external vice president, met with city councilmember Paul Koretz last week to discuss apron parking. UCLA Transportation is working with government officials to find more options for student parking on campus. Gamble is also trying to get the UC Board of Regents vote on fee increases postponed until fall so there is more time to gather student involvement. Her office plans to bring students to the UC Regents meeting in July.
  • Raquel Saxe, academic affairs commissioner, is still working with Judith Smith, vice provost of undergraduate education, in hopes of finding funding for Covel Peer Learning Labs or other similar services.
  • Administrative representative Berky Nelson reminded the Facilities Commission and General Representative 1’s offices to pay nominal bills from last year.
