Now that students have grown out of trick-or-treating for free candy and attending awkward high school costume parties, they are ready for all the thrills of a Los Angeles Halloween. Here are some fun events happening in the city during the days leading up to Halloween

Pandora Halloween 3-D
October 29
Hollywood Forever Cemetery, $100
For those looking for the rare chance to claim they partied in a real cemetery, the cost of this event might be worth it. Featuring the music of the EC Twins, this event for people aged 21 and over promises “the world’s first ever true 3-D event experience,” as well as a 10,000-square-foot indoor venue featuring interactive entertainment and 3-D video on a big screen.

Haunted Hollywood Tours
October 22-31
Grauman’s Chinese Theater, $30
This event is definitely for those who like a little kitsch in their lives, and there’s no time like Halloween to be a little kitschy. This is a bit like the star tour buses that can be seen driving around Hollywood, except instead of visiting movie stars’ homes, the tours visit the sites where they were murdered, as well as other famous Hollywood haunting sites such as the original Tower of Terror, the Manson massacre site and Marilyn Monroe’s haunted mirror

Los Angeles Haunted Hay Ride
Oct. 27-31
Griffith Park (Old Zoo), $25
The Los Angeles Haunted Hay Ride may sound a bit tame, but rest assured that this year’s event will be nothing if not creepy. The event includes a scary maze, a menagerie side show and a 25-minute hay ride through Griffith Park featuring 400-year-old children, 15-foot-tall death mascots and creepy clowns, plus perhaps some other surprises (past hay rides have included storytelling from the likes of Tom Hanks and Amy Smart)

King Tut’s Tomb Comes Alive
Oct. 28
Egyptian Theatre and Courtyard, $25
Taking place inside the famous Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, this massive party promises some state-of-the-art light shows, two separate dance floors, three huge rooms and even an open, heated patio for partying under the stars. Several DJs will be spinning tunes all night long as attendees dance and participate in costume contests.

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights
Oct. 27-31
Universal Studios Hollywood, $42-85
Universal Studios is a great place to go to find some cool rides, neat attractions and a little Hollywood magic. During October, though, weekends are dedicated to a specific genre of Hollywood: horror. Featuring mazes, scare zones where dressed-up monsters chase people and a “terror tram” – a re-imagining of the back-lot tour that puts people into their very own horror film – there’s plenty here for anyone looking to have a scary good time.

West Hollywood Costume Carnaval
October 31
Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard, FREE
Claiming to be one of the largest Halloween celebrations in the world, this event – which attracts thousands of people each year – will feature a block party-type atmosphere with a spooky Halloween twist. Featuring one of the most intense costume contests around, with costume planning months in advance and prizes upwards of $250, the West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval is sure to be a visual spectacle.
