The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Agenda

• Contingency allocations for student groups were passed unanimously.
• The council approved the USA Financial Funding guidelines.

Officer Reports

• President Emily Resnick announced that the first farmers market on the Hill will take place Wednesday in De Neve Plaza from 3 to 7 p.m.
• Kristina Sidrak, internal vice president, announced upcoming resource fairs which will be put on by her office.
• Joelle Gamble, external vice president, spoke about the passing of AB 131, the second half of the California Dream Act. Her office organized call-in days to California legislators in support of the act, which was approved by the University of California Student Association. She also gave a brief update on multiple legislative bills concerning education funding in the state.
• Raquel Saxe, academic affairs commissioner, discussed a possible partnership with the Global Leadership project, an organization that allows high school students to attend leadership conferences. Saxe discussed publicizing the Center for Commmunity Learning internship, which allows students to get academic credit for off-campus volunteering. She also said her office continues to work to recruit more former students for an alumni mentorship program.
• David Bocarsly, general representative 1, said his office is working with the homecoming committee to provide half-time entertainment for that weekend’s game.

Appointments

*The council approved third-year political science student Kent Grover to the Student Initiated Access Committee by a vote of 7-2.
*The council unanimously approved second-year political science student Haidar Anwar to the Student Activities Center Board of Governors.
*The council unanimously approved second-year psychobiology student Trevor Wilkinson to the Green initiative Fund.

Special Presentations

*Jacqueline Reynolds, from the office of information technology, presented an idea for students to develop a mobile application, which would help the IT office engage with students.
*Kelly Knickerbocker, executive director of the homecoming committee, updated the council on funding allocations for homecoming events and the selection process for student booths at the event.
