This week, the Daily Bruin asked students their first impressions of the new South Campus Student Center.

Rohun Patel
Second-year, neuroscience
“I think it’s awesome. I like the Subway and the impressive design.”

Jill Haney
Second-year, mathematics
“I think I will eat here a lot. It’s very cool and modern and way better than the food trucks. I hope people still call it the Bombshelter.”

Michelle Marshall
Second-year, economics
“I like it because it looks awesome and is close to the sororities. Inside, they’re still figuring some things out though. The service was a little slow.”

Brandon Yuan
Third-year, electrical engineering
“It’s convenient for South Campus majors. Now we don’t have to go to Ackerman or Northern Lights.”

I like that one kitchen has vegetarian options. One of the four kithchens has only four items on the menu. I dont think thats sufficient. The Subway pricing is about a dollar more per footlong than the Subway in my neighborhood. I dont understand why Student Centers on campus price gouge. Its disheartening.Constrution cost was published to be 16.5M. Not sure it was the best use of funding but the moneys were slated for non-salary/no-EDU. Id like to learn more about ASUCLA, its business model.and its contribution to UCLA.
