Senior forward Sydney Leroux:

“I mean it was not unexpected, things happen for a reason. I love playing for this team and for this school. I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to come and play here.”

“It’s painful and I wanted to take this team farther than I did. That is kind of how I am and I wanted to prove that we could go as far as we were supposed to. I mean we were No. 2 for a reason. I do not really know what else to say. I just have to thank my teammates and my coaches for an amazing four years.”

“A lot of things happened this year and it was a struggle for me. But I got through it because I have an amazing team and an amazing support system. Everything, I owe to this team. The senior season was my best season and my favorite season of my four years here. I just wish I could have had more time with them.”

On a memory that stand out to her during her time at UCLA:

“I can’t pinpoint any moment. Every single day, we come out and we work hard. We do what we need to do. I enjoy waking up at seven o’clock in the morning and seeing these people. People are not that lucky to enjoy every moment that they send with others and I enjoyed it all.”

Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Braun:

On San Diego’s defensive approach to overtime:

“We knew their strategy, we knew they wanted to go into PKs. We wanted to get that goal. I mean it was not a surprise that they would fall back and play all eleven defenders.”

On what she would take away from this season:

“Everyone’s love for each other, everyone’s determination, passion and heart. Every single practice we gave everything we had. Every single time we step on the field, it shows. Even today, although we didn’t get the result we wanted, you could see it.”

Coach B.J. Snow:

“I thought they fought hard, especially during the second half. They came out and we just wish there had been another five minutes on that clock. I think we though we were going to get one, actually I think we thought we got one which gotten taken away from that offsides call. But the bottom line is that we have go to put the ball into the back of the net.

We didn’t want to get into the situation where we had to take penalty kicks. San Diego did a good job of fighting and that early goal was a hard one to come back from. At the end of the day, what I told the girls was that I was really proud that they fought back. It showed a lot of their character to never give up and to keep fighting until the 110th minute.”

“Soccer is a funny game, putting up 25 shots on goal and fighting as hard as we did. I thought Jenna Richmond was absolutely phenomenal. It was her best game of the year and I though she was the best player on the field. I am really proud of her performance. Certainly the seniors, it’s the most difficult thing because it is their last opportunity to play here. The rest of us get the chance to come back here and play here again. We just have to keep our head up…it is going to sting for a little bit.”

On penalty kicks:

“It is the roll of the dice at that point. You put it in the hand of the soccer gods and you never know which way it is going to go.”

On what impression this season will leave on him as a coach:

“I think there are a lot of takeaways. I think we learned a lot about each other. We had our ups and we had our downs but for the most part, I am so proud of how the girls came together so quickly, how they fought through everything, and how they put together a season that gave them a chance of doing what they wanted to do. Ultimately, that is all you can ask, to give yourself a chance.”

On having any regrets about Friday’s game and the season in general:

“It is easy to question yourself throughout the season, and especially when you play a game like that. I think the girls left it all on the field. When you play really good team, sometimes the ball bounces your ways and sometimes it doesn’t.”

“Katelyn Rowland made some phenomenal saves there in the shootout and we had a chance to win and their keeper came up big. They made one more big play than we did today. That is why they are going through.”
