Rachael Kidder leads the Bruins with 15 kills as UCLA goes into the intermission up on Florida State by two sets.

The Bruins came out hot in the first set, while the Seminoles appeared rattled by their first ever appearance in the national semifinals. Florida State made costly blocking and passing errors that helped UCLA solidify its early lead.

Kidder is hitting over .500 individually but received help from her teammates as well. Six Bruins have recorded kills so far, and junior Tabi Love posted nine kills in the first two sets.

Florida State had trouble containing Kidder and sophomore Kelly Reeves in the early going, and senior setter Lauren Van Orden’s passing kept the defense off guard.

UCLA went on an 8-1 run in the second set that allowed the team to extend its lead and move Love to the outside hitter position to spell Kidder. The Bruins will look to close out the Seminoles in the third set and move on to the national championship on Saturday.
