In a quick turnaround, the Undergraduate Students Association Council reworked the formula for determining operational funding for student groups and approved the new proposed allocations at an emergency meeting on Thursday.

When the original proposed allocations were brought to council on Tuesday, there was a range of allocations from $8 to $5,503, so council decided to come up with a new formula and schedule a Thursday meeting.

After reviewing the math for the 161 funding applications, the Budget Review Committee and President Gabe Rose put together an impressive presentation for council in a sprint to the end of what has been a long funding process.

The new results appear much more balanced.

Rose said the original results had been off because groups requested an extraordinary total of $1.7 million dollars of funding, which skewed the entire equation – particularly for groups who had only requested small amounts.

The range of allocations with the new formula is $98 to $1,644.
