The UC Board of Regents convened for a second day of meetings at UC Riverside’s Highlander Union Building on Thursday.

Thursday’s regents meeting had a larger and louder public presence than did Wednesday’s, due in large part to a day of action planned by protest groups. Demonstrators in attendance on Thursday included students from UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UCLA, as well members of the Occupy LA movement.

Thursday’s regents meeting followed a chain of events similar to the one held at UCLA on Nov. 28, 2011. Protesters forced the regents to adjourn and relocate, then held a general assembly in the meeting’s original site.

The Occupy UC Riverside group played a leading role in the day of action Thursday that brought activists from several other UC campuses to Riverside to protest the regents meeting.

Protesters Thursday included members of Fix UC, the organization led by members of the UC Riverside Highlander’s editorial board that formally presented a proposal at Wednesday’s meeting aiming to transform the UC funding system.

Attendance at Thursday’s protest peaked at roughly 1,000.
