UCLA women’s basketball player sentenced
Former UCLA women’s basketball player Ayesha Rembert, who pleaded no contest to three burglary and theft charges last month, was sentenced on Aug. 18 to 90 days in the county jail and three years formal probation.
Rembert, a reserve junior forward on the basketball team last year, was arrested on Jan. 19 on charges that she took items worth $3000, including a laptop and leather jacket, from third-year history student Tiffiny Walls.
At the sentencing Rembert was also ordered to pay full restitution to Walls which will be determined by the probation department.
After her January arrest Rembert was suspended from the basketball team, though the athletic department declined to state whether or not the suspension had anything to do with her arrest.
