For the men’s track and field team, the NCAA Outdoors Championships last week in Des Moines, Iowa, did not turn out as well as had been hoped. Two weeks ago at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, the women’s track and field team’s season came to a crashing halt at the NCAA Championship meet. In track and field, usually it is the big-name athlete that blows the field away and wins the event. Only every so often, a surprise winner comes out of nowhere to capture first place. The NCAA Championships are the pinnacle of the collegiate track and field season. It is what every athlete works for the whole season in hopes of individual success and team glory. While most of us are taking finals and ending our year at UCLA, several women will be working hard as 13 members of the No. 8 women’s track and field team will compete in the NCAA Championships.
