
The following are the platform items of the eight Graduate Student Association. Each candidate was given the opportunity to include between three and six platform items, which were then edited for length and clarity.

Jamal Madni (Electrical Engineering)
• Work toward increasing financial aid for graduate students and preventing excessive fee increases
• Increase funding for the Graduate Student Resource Center and Graduate Writing Centers
• Foster interaction among graduate students from different departments by developing interdisciplinary programs such as social and academic programs
• Promote diversity among graduate students by addressing the specific needs of groups such as underrepresented, low-income, international, or married students.
• Make information about GSA more readily available, fostering communication with academic councils and student interest groups.
• Give graduate students more opportunity to give feedback through events such as forums and consortiums

Myha Ngo (School of Public Health, Community Health Sciences)
• Serve as a voice for the academic concerns of graduate students by bringing their concerns to the Academic Senate and acting as a liaison to educate students about their academic rights and responsibilities
• Make students knowledgeable about issues raised in the Academic Senate that could impact them, such as student fees and student academic employment
• Strive to establish interdepartmental degree programs and concurrent degree programs for graduate students.
• Expand the capacity and awareness of academic support services offered by the Graduate Student Resource Center.

Argus Sun (Biomedical Engineering)
• Get students involved and aware of the Academic Senate’s work
• Inform students about the career resources offered by the Graduate Student Resource Center and build on these resources
• Work with local businesses and ASUCLA to make necessary items such as school and office supplies more readily available on campus and in the surrounding areas
• Provide suitable study spaces on campus and in university housing
• Develop existing relations between graduate student employees and their respective unions

Neda Jahanshad (Biomedical engineering)
• Make information about important sources of funding for students more readily available
• Make important bodies such as the Academic Senate or administrative councils more accessible for graduate students and faculty in graduate departments
• Bring various graduate departments together to provide more academic interdepartmental programs, such as research.

Ryan Roberts (Near Eastern languages and cultures)
• Make GSA more visible on campus and provide students with information about its proceedings
• Collaborate with the GSA president’s office to help work together more effectively and efficiently
• Along with the GSA Director of Communications, develop better technological solutions for GSA
• Continue to develop relations with academic councils and student group leaders
• Improve funding for the Graduate Student Resource Center and Graduate Writing Center by coordinating with program directors and the administration

Monica Sanchez (Education)
• Encourage graduate student projects and community involvement by partnering with alumni and local government
• Collaborate with the UC Students Association to bring student voice and perspective to the state legislature
• Work to increase financial aid for graduate students and prevent excessive fee hikes

DeAnnah Byrd (School of Public Health, Community Health Sciences)
• Increase graduate funding through active communication with legislators, lobbyists and the Board of Regents.
• Improve diversity among the student body by advocating the Board of Regents to recruit other students of color and educate people on the effects of diversity.
• Establish a more diverse and representative faculty through the integration of more comprehensive hiring guidelines and the inclusion of graduate student voices in the hiring process.
