Robin Patch, a fourth-year political science student, has been trying to get her son, Shane, a spot in UCLA’s child care facility. But due to the long waiting list – with more than 800 families looking for a spot in a facility that can accept 257 children – and set of regulations about who can be admitted in Early Care and Education, she has yet to be accepted.
