UCLA graduate Kim Vandenberg prepares for the U.S. Olympic Trials, hoping to qualify for the Beijing Olympics later this summer. Vandenberg and gold medalist Amanda Beard, who is competing in the Trials for her fourth Olympics, have been mentors to the other swimmers in Team Bruin. Sophomore Emily Bibb and senior Anna Poteete said they are more focused on setting personal bests than on making the Games.
